1. Music Store Day is Friday, January 22 - Boomer Music will come to your student's band class and sell music books, accessories, and music-related items. Feel free to send cash or a check with them so that students can get new reeds, buy cleaning supplies, or purchase a fun book to read out of.

2. Solo/Ensemble Festival is March 4th and 5th - Students in 6th and 7th grade will be participating in Solo/Ensemble festival this March, and this activity will be their performance grade for the quarter. Students will perform in either a solo or small ensemble of their choosing, and they will be assigned 10-minue slots during the day to perform in front of a professional music adjudicator. The majority of the performances will be on Saturday, March 5th, but you can request to perform in the afternoon on the 4th if you have extenuating circumstances. Please let me know ASAP if you have a conflict with these dates so that I can try to find a schedule that will work for you.

Poinsettia sales will begin on October 26th and end on November 16th.

Students in band and orchestra will be selling poinsettias, narcissus, and amaryllis flowers through November 16th. Proceeds will go towards costs for the Fort Collins Symphony concert in April and the 8th grade Elitch Gardens trip in May. You can also order online at

Concert Clothes Information

Students in ALL band classes are required to wear ALL BLACK dress clothes for our concerts. This includes a black dress shirt, black dress pants, black socks, and all-black shoes. Please do not wear: t-shirts, jeans, shorts, sandals, flip-flops, tank tops, or skirts or dresses that are higher than the knees.

We have a VERY LARGE selection of slightly used clothes that have been donated to the Boltz Music Department. If you would like to see what is available, please see Mr. Nguyen after school or during Advisory at least ONE WEEK BEFORE the concert. We have a lot of different sizes and we can probably find something that will work for you. Also, if you have used black dress clothes that no longer fit, please consider donating them to Boltz for other students to use. Thanks!
